According to רב אשי a person is חייב מלקות for just leaving the כלאים on himself for a certain amount of time.
  • Why? This is a לאו שאין בו מעשה which the רבנן hold אין לוקין ? Learn the “נמוקי יוסף ” אפ’ לא שהה (bottom of the ריף) and  “ריטב”א “אמר רב ביבי
  • Is the ריטבא explanation the same as the נמוקי יוסף ?

See the last line of the Kesef Mishna. See also Ohr Someach on this halacha of the Rambam that discusses this. Regarding the gemara that discusses not eating before the one who makes the bracha, what is the reason, is it because otherwise one will not be yotzei with the bracha, or because of derech eretz. After learning tosfos on 47a dh ayn there should be some clarity on this question.
