• Last week we pointed out the מחלוקת between תוס & the ריטב”א whether the גזירה שוה of שיבה שיבה from עבד עברי to רוצח is needed just for the דין of ר”מ or also for the דין of ר”י as well.  What is their point of disagreement?
• Can a רוצח be appointed to a new position after he is set free from גלות?
• Does ר”מ & ר”י also argue regarding a person who commits a different crime other then murder. For example theft or idolatry?
• If a person of stature commits an Aveirah, does he get dismissed from his position?  If he does Teshuva can he get reinstated?  Learn ריטבא

• Why does רש”י mean that the city has to pay for the rent of the רוצח, and not the רוצח himself?
• According to תוס explanation of ר”י does the רוצח have to pay the rent?

Quickly review : גמרא יב  after the משנה until next  משנה

If a רוצח living in the עיר מקלט kills accidentally again, the דין is he has to leave that neighborhood.

• Is the רוצח A) confined to the neighborhood he runs to or B) free to roam anywhere in the עיר מקלט just forbidden to return to the neighborhood in which he committed the murder?  Bring a proof.
• If the רוצח does not leave the neighborhood can the גואל הדם kill the רוצח in the עיר מקלט?
• Is the דין of פלכו קלטו dealing with a first time offender or a second time offender?

• The גמרא says מכאן אמרו, “from here”.  What is the “here” referring to? ריטבא

• What is the חידוש of the first דין of the משנה?
• Why does תוס say שכר means taxes and not the simple meaning of the word “rent”?

• The יו”ד ס’ ר”מ סע’ כ”ד ,רמ”א  rules that a grandson is obligated in honoring the grandfather.  How does this opinion explain our גמרא which clearly seems to conclude to the contrary?

Review גמרא י”ב. “נגמר דינו (six lines from the top of the Amud) until אמר ר”ל

• The רמב”ם says the מזבח grants asylum to someone who is trying to escape the death penalty of the king .  So why was יואב mistaken for holding on to the מזבח ? Learn (כסף משנה, מאירי, ערוך לנר )
• How could the Angel of Rome make such blatant mistakes?
• Why does the גמרא not offer as an answer that the רוצח was living in the מגרש with just a pillow and blanket and no house?

Review quickly גמרא יא  after the משנה
until the bottom of the עמוד.

• Why does the כ”ג deserve to die for not praying for his generation? מהרש”א
• How does the תפלה of the כ”ג help prevent others from sinning? See מכתב מאליהו ח”ג page 86)
• Why does the death of the כ”ג free the רוצח from the עיר מקלט? (See מכתב מאליהו ח”ג page 87)
• Everyone was going to  drown if דוד המלך did not put this piece of pottery with Hashem’s name back in place at the risk of erasing Hashem’s name. Why did דוד המלך need the ק”ו of אחיתופל, it should be obvious that it is permitted since peoples lives were at stake? (See ערוך לנר)
