whether we need the logic of one being able to be מפקיר all his possessions in order to use an Esrog of דמאי.
According to “תוספת “דאי – because can feed the דמאי to poor people and soldiers stationed in their town.
According to Rashi (based on רש”י דף לד: “האי יש בה) because one has the ability to eat דמאי by making all his possessions ownerless.
